– Operating procedures for the identification of asbestos-cement surfaces from remote sensing images and specific spectral libraries –

ASBESTOS project concerns the development of operational procedures for the identification of asbestos-cemented surfaces using remote sensing images and the creation of a specific spectral library. The project was the winner of the BRIC 2016 call announced by INAIL.

The official kick off of the project was July 7, 2017 and the expected duration is two years.

Project’s partners:

  • Istituto di Metodologie per l’Analisi Ambientale (IMAA) – CNR
  • Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia – DIEF
  • Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV)
  • Università di Milano Bicocca

Goals

1-The experimental comparison of different techniques for the identification of ACM surfaces by remote sensing images;

2-The construction of a ACM spectral library, for anthropic and natural surfaces, at different levels of deterioration, for the definition of ACM surfaces recognizability by spectral methods;

3-The definition of an operating manual for the use of the best remote sensing techniques for the recognition of ACM surfaces in different territorial contexts.
